Cavelo Nero

The Cavelo Nero (Black Tuscan Kale) is looking good now with only the odd hole where a pigeon has had a bit through the netting. I harvest a few leaves from each plant every week which keeps nice young leaves coming through.
Just rip the leaf off its tough main stalk and steam or stir fry, its delicious.

I'd love to grow that! One of the best flavoured brassicas in my mind. I just find it such a bind to keep batting off the pests for about 10 months of the year!

It tastes really good as well Matron, I keep it netted to keep the pigeons off.

Looks good, when do you plant it? I have such a small plot that some things just aren't worth giving up the ground for? Is it really in the ground for 10 months?!
