Can I have a Pea please Bob?

The bed in the top pictures had been cleared of shallots two days ago. I don't like leaving beds empty so this one was sown with a good helping of "Feltham First" pea for a late crop and to help fix nitrogen back into the soil.

The bottom picture shows how well the purple podded peas are doing, it will be harvest time for them soon.

Hi both - love the noo blog - v sophisticated!

Can I just ask if you always sow peas as close as this? Looks much more intensive than the so-called 'recommended' sowing distances - maybe you just have super duper rich soil or feed well?

Hope you don't mind all the q's!

Hi Hazel, I have sown about 20% more than perhaps is normal but this allows for mice etc. Also, the raised beds are filled with a mix of 12 year old manure and home made compost and cope very well with more intensively planted crops. The sowing distance is between 1-2" spacings (ish)
