Cranberries

If you have blueberries, and we have 16 planted directly into the ground, its a good practice to use cranberries to underplant. Not only do you get a good crop of cranberries for Christmas, but they act as a mulch, spreading out suppressing weeds and keeping the ground moist.
They are well worth growing as you get two crops for the space of one.

Hi
Thanks for posting that - we were wondering why our cranberry was sprawling everywhere, we thought it was gonna be a bush. Whoops - more research needed!

Our cranberry is planted between two blueberry bushes on our allotment. Its always nice when you do somethng random, which ends up making some horticultural sense!

Cheers
Keener

I read that cranberries grow well in baskets and would be great for my garden wall - where should I get seeds or plants and what is best time to plant them

Rita, try the Dorset Blueberry company, they do very good plants and will give you all the planting and horticultural details as well.
