A wet afternoon and some scrap timber

Every shed or workshop has a stash of scrap timber or off cuts and mine is no exception. So, with today being washed out allotment wise, it was an ideal moment to knock something up that was of some use.
A quick blip of the saw bench had some old pallet wood that was destined for the kindling pile cut into pieces to make a box 8" x 6" and 6" deep. This was stuffed with 6" lengths of old bamboo cane until it could hold no more and all were tight. Any canes that were not hollow had 8mm holes drilled in them to make even more hidey holes for lace wings and the like.
No wood stain or preservative has been used as the chemicals may harm the occupants. Even so, I expect it to last a few years before it needs replacing.
Now, lets get on and make some more.
